Lets defuse the transit hell on the Brenner

The Brenner is blistering hot when it comes to the transit of heavy vehicles.

People living there suffer from noise and air pollution. Unfortunately, the Brenner is also one of the most important European chokepoints for transport of goods and is hence of extreme importance to the economic well being of many countries in the region.

How can this be solved? Most suggestions for solutions are like raising strawberries on the lunar surface. Still, they get all the limelight and the attention of decision makers. Besides, most of them also have a stratospheric price tag and those expenses automatically make everything we need for daily living more expensive. In reality, not much happens in order to improve the lives of those living along the Brenner route.

We need the traffic in order to secure our economic well being. And so-called solutions either don’t really solve the problems at hand or they are so far in the future that you might be forgiven to think they are mere dreams.

Not only, for this reason, is it very surprising that local politicians have so far totally ignored a solution that could be implemented comparatively quickly and cheaply and that would improve the lives of those living along the route very substantially. LNG and the methane engine would be a blessing for the inhabitants there.

What are we talking about? Would it matter how many trucks cross Tyrol every day if you could not see or hear them and if the environment would not be poisoned by the fumes of thousands of vehicles lowering the quality of life in the process?

Its the noise and the dirt that matters. If both would not be, people in Tyrol would be much more relaxed when it comes to transit traffic as long as it stays on the designated corridors. Ugly roads can be camouflaged pretty quickly.

The methane engine is the cleanest that roams our roads today. If it’s used the right way it is cleaner than an Electric Vehicle and its almost as silent. No particulate matter (not even nano particulates), no nitrogen oxides, no sulfur oxides, and if the LNG is made from bio-methane it’s even carbon neutral. Not even a Tesla is so clean as it always carries its carbon backpack with it.

But they are not only really clean – they are also really silent. Many truck drivers running on LNG want engine noise simulators in the cabin in order to get used to driving the truck. If you apply minimal noise damping, the LNG truck operates with almost no sound. Except for the rolling noise from the tires – but you get that with an EV as well.

Not convinced? We understand – it sounds too good to be true. This is why we want to organize road shows where you can come and see for yourself.

Curious? Stay tuned.
